11) Breaking the Law as a Means to an End: It is an Ugly Stench that Surrounds Trump – Part 2

Reason #11 to Vote Blue on Nov 5

In Part 1, I listed Trump’s conviction of 34 business fraud felonies, and the convictions of Trump allies like that of Steve Bannon, Peter Navarro, Paul Manafort, George Papadopoulos, Roger Stone, and Rick Gates. All the crimes relate to helping Trump get ahead,… illegally.

8) Rick Gates, the deputy chairman of Trump’s 2016 campaign, pleaded guilty in 2018 to conspiracy and lying to the FBI. He spent 45 days in prison.

9) Michael Cohen, Trump’s onetime personal lawyer, was sentenced to three years in prison in 2018 after pleading guilty to an array of crimes, including violating campaign finance laws and lying to Congress in the Mueller investigation. He was released in 2021. Unlike many of the others, he is not proud of his illegal activities, and has come to resent being “used” by Trump, lying to defend him. He has become a witness against Trump.

10) Sidney Powell, former Trump 2020 campaign lawyer and one of Trump’s co-defendants in the sprawling Georgia election subversion case — took a guilty plea deal to testify against co-defendants that helped her avoid prison.

Powell had to admit to culpability in the theft and dissemination of voting-machine software, election data, and ballots in Coffee County. That’s right – one of the loudest voices yelling about election fraud – actually admitted to interfering with election integrity in Georgia!

11) Kenneth Chesebro, another former Trump campaign attorney and co-defendant in the Georgia case — also took a plea deal agreeing to testify at co-defendants’ trials about the election fraud perpetrated by Republicans on behalf of Trump.

12) Scott Hall, a third co-defendant in the Georgia case, also accepted a plea deal agreeing to testify against others.

All these people and others like them, knew they were breaking the law, but did so because they felt their cause was “right” and thus above the law. Neither Trump nor any of his pals deserve to be in government.

The stench is there, but it does not inhibit the wealthy elites like Koch and Musk who enrich themselves at the expense of the middle class and poor because of right-wing economic policies.
