Trump believes “I alone can fix it” even though he has a huge amount of ignorance about history, civics, religions, geography, and science. See “Reason” #32. He could have fixed some things if he had been willing to listen to advice, but his narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) prevents this. Instead, he prefers flattery, loyalty, and agreement with whatever he thinks.
When advisors have tried to counsel other views, or explain things to him (“school” him) he feels belittled, gets angry, and blames others.
If reporters catch him in obvious errors, he tries to wiggle out by saying it was a joke or sarcasm. If that doesnt work, he insists he is right and denies the obvious because, no matter what, a person with NPD can’t be wrong.
Despite most of his White House staff and Cabinet telling him during the 5 weeks preceding Jan 6, 2020 “there was no fraud that could have changed the election results” and despite more than 3 years of additional confirmation, he still is in denial. This is not “genius.” It’s delusional or deliberate lying.
And then, on August 11, 2024, Trump posted this:
Some idiot selected one photo of the Harris/Walz rally at the Detroit Airport on August 7 and made up a story that the photo was changed using AI to picture a large crowd when allegedly there was no crowd. And the former President latched on to that phony idea like it was a life preserver saving him in mid-ocean. Just read his above post! It’s frantic babbling.
A “stable genius” would not post lies that everyone would know can be readily and easily proven wrong. With the video footage of multiple news organizations. Plus cell phone video from the thousands who attended. [And all of these were quickly put all over the internet soon after his looney post.]
So, is he deliberately preparing his base to reject the 2024 election results?
Or is he delusional and doesn’t know it? But no matter what, a person with NPD can’t accept big crowds for opponents. It is too painful emotionally.
Add the stress of being a Presidential nominee!!, whose fortune must go to pay for lawsuits!!, and where a loss could result in prison. It’s no surprise that many are concerned about Trump’s accelerating mental decline.
