39) I Want to Talk Policy But Tyranny is Staring Us in the Eye

I want to continue my series on a comparison of the economic proposals of Trump and Harris, but today I am again reminded that talking policy is a minor part of this election.

Because I received this email from Liz Cheney:

Friend,

JD Vance recently said, that if he were Vice President, he would have asked for new electors instead of certifying the 2020 election results.

Let’s be clear: This is illegal and unconstitutional. The American people had voted. The courts had ruled. The Electoral College had met and voted. The Governor in every state had certified the results and sent a legal slate of electors to Congress to be counted.

The Vice President has no constitutional authority to tell states to submit alternative slates of electors because his candidate lost.

That is tyranny.

Our institutions held on Jan 6 because Mike Pence refused to violate his oath to the Constitution. Trump picked JD Vance because Vance will do whatever Trump wants, including violating the Constitution. They are both far too dangerous to serve. It’s our duty to stop them.

Thank you,

Liz

Yes, it was sent by Liz Cheney. I disagree with many of Cheney’s ideas on policies rather strongly. By the same token she would say something similarly about Kamala Harris – yet she recently said she plans to vote for Harris “to ensure that [Trump] is never in a position of power again.”

This, together with her words above, is an amazing sign of her love of country.  In her words (above), It’s our DUTY to stop Trump and Vance. I couldn’t agree more.
